PrismaPro
A gloss paint protection film that adds color as well as a protective layer over a vehicle’s existing paint. It can cover a whole vehicle or selected accents. This range is for professional installation, and its owner warranty requires fully cured original factory paint; repainted panels are excluded.
Gloss
Passenger vehicles and recreational vehicles; covered substrate must meet OEM-paint requirements
Professionally installed on fully cured original factory vehicle paint. Repainted panels, vinyl and unpainted trim are outside the owner warranty.
Buying and owning this film
Manufacturer-document summary with editorial buying advice. No independent product or comparative performance testing.
Overview
A gloss color-change PPF range for full wraps, accents and protective detailing. The current North American collection includes solid and metallic colors. Its defining installation choice is dry application, so look for a shop familiar with this particular film rather than assuming every PPF process is interchangeable.
What you are buying
The stated 8.5 mil construction combines 7.5 mil (191 µm as printed) of top-coated polyurethane face film and 1 mil (25 µm) of adhesive. The removable 4.5 mil liner is separate. These are typical values, not guaranteed minimum thicknesses.
Passenger vehicles and recreational vehicles are named applications. Warranty eligibility is narrower: the owner policy requires professionally installed film on fully cured original factory paint. Repainted panels, vinyl and unpainted trim are excluded.
Before you commit
Ask the installer to record the color, production lot and film direction. Avery notes possible roll-to-roll color differences, and metallic effects can look different when applied in different directions. A future replacement panel should be checked beside the remaining film before you accept the match.
Keep a realistic view of the surface underneath. The application guide warns that dents, scratches and orange peel can show through. Clean removal is not warranted, and the PDS specifically excludes removal from automotive paint more than five years old.
Warranty in practice
The ten-year headline is the maximum. PrismaPro’s own table gives these periods for zones 1, 2 and 3 respectively:
- Vertical panels: 10, 8 and 6 years
- Horizontal panels: 8, 6 and 5 years
The PDS ties warranty duration to these durability periods. Ask the shop to identify your zone and panel orientations on the quote. Use PrismaPro’s table; the nearby two-year reduction in the owner document applies to other named Avery films.
The USA/Canada policy covers manufacturing defects such as adhesive failure, bubbling, cracking, peeling, delamination and discoloration. It applies to the original purchaser and is nontransferable. The remedy is replacement film or a discretionary credit; removal and reinstallation labor are not promised. Poor installation, improper care and non-approved surfaces are excluded.
Keep your completed warranty certificate and original invoice. Report a problem promptly to the original installer. The installation bulletin directs registration online, but the reviewed owner policy does not state a registration deadline or a clear warranty-start trigger.
Living with it
Wait 72 hours before washing, remove insects and stains promptly with soap and water, and keep pressure washing away from the edges. Trial any new cleaner on a hidden area.
The documents include several solvent and wax qualifications. The product-specific guide permits certain spot-cleaning and petroleum-free spray-wax uses, while the PDS warns that products containing solvents or petroleum distillates can void cover. Get a written list of approved products for this film instead of assuming a cleaner suitable for vinyl is suitable here.
Still worth confirming
- Your local exposure zone and the term for each panel orientation
- Installer workmanship and any removal/reinstallation labor cover
- Warranty start date and registration requirements
- Approved cleaners, sealants and coatings
- Local color stock and how a replacement-panel color match would be checked
Manufacturer self-healing and protection claims are not independent comparative tests. This North American profile does not establish warranty coverage elsewhere.
Intended use and durability
Professionally installed on fully cured original factory vehicle paint. Repainted panels, vinyl and unpainted trim are outside the owner warranty.
PrismaPro-specific table: zones 1/2/3 vertical 10/8/6 years; horizontal 8/6/5. PDS ties warranty duration to those periods. Use IB 1.30 for zone maps without replacing the named table with its generic reduction arithmetic.
