WFAANZ certificate: where PPF training differs

For shops offering both services, describe each credential precisely rather than treating certification as one interchangeable label.

Australasian Paint & Panel has reported WFAANZ’s new automotive tint certification. The association’s enrollment form lists an Automotive Window Film Certificate. For businesses offering paint protection film alongside window tint, the useful question is what each credential actually covers.

A customer should not have to guess whether “certified” refers to window film, PPF, a particular manufacturer’s products or a staff member’s course attendance. A clearer description identifies the person, the credential’s issuer and the service covered. This is our practical recommendation, not a new rule announced by WFAANZ.

XPEL’s current training information provides a separate example: its PPF advancement course begins with an ability assessment and covers its films and DAP kits. It lists automotive window-film training separately and restricts training to current authorized installers. These are XPEL’s program terms, not conditions of WFAANZ certification or a claim that the programs recognize one another.

When planning training, ask what is taught, what is tested and whether the assessment includes work on the service you intend to sell. When presenting credentials to customers, avoid implying that a tint credential establishes PPF installation competence or guarantees the quality of an individual job.

For a PPF quote, discuss the actual panels, edge treatment, preparation and aftercare with the installer. Those project questions remain useful alongside a training record; one should not replace the other.

  • No new PPF certification, government licensing requirement or measured installation-quality outcome is established by the WFAANZ announcement.
  • The XPEL description is current contextual information, not a newly announced course or an endorsement. Availability and individual eligibility require confirmation.
